FLL/MIA Layover

FLL/MIA Layover

Postby john on Thu Jan 07, 2010 3:56 pm

Going to the "Central Carribean" with a layover in South Florida later this month. Only one flight per day where we are going. You can actually do this trip without a layover, but you are taking your chances on the connection and the airline warned against it.

My layover is about 12 hours, but part of our crew is there for almost 24 hours. We will have surfboards but didn't plan on bringing wetsuits. Any suggestions?

Just confirmed we will have wheels, so if there happens to be surf and it is not too cold, we will probably do a dawn patrol before heading to MIA. My flight arrives FLL before midnight. The next one departs MIA early afternoon the next day. My countdown to the tropics is probably starting a little to early to be productive at work.

We did check the surf that morning and there was none. On the return flight we didn't even look. In fact, we took the train from MIA to FLL and slept in the airport before taking an early morning flight back home.

John--south Florida is real tricky on north refraction swells, some beaches get them and others don't. One swell this winter South Beach-Miami was the only break that picked it up.
