Hey there folks! Here is an email I got from Cliff with all the details. Hoping to make it out but I have a one month old so it would only be as a spectator. This is such a great event and an even better cause!
The Texas Coastal Bend Surfrider Foundation will be hosting our annual Surf Camp for the Disabled on June 27 & 28 at 6:00 PM each evening in front of the Sand Castle Condos in Port Aransas, Texas.
This year's surf camp will be held in honor of Leo Garza, a local surfer who passed from this world to that great wave in the sky this past year.
You do not need to know how to surf to help, just show up. We'll have some soft top boards available but bring your longboard if you have one.
DIRECTIONS:Once in Port Aransas take Avenue G (known as G-street to the locals) to the beach, turn right going south and continue until you get directly in front of the Sand Castle Condominiums. The event will take place on the beach in front of the Sand Castle Condos.
This event raises the level of STOKE to a whole new height. Come feel the STOKE!
I adjusted a few things... coming down Sunday after church... leaving Tuesday am to head back... if no waves... tell me what i can do to help? Trying to get wife and at least one of our kids to come and help as well....
I'm a volunteer.... use me! i do trash, anything....

Words can't describe, and pictures don't do justice to the great time we had with the kids from Oklahoma. Amazing what freedom a liitle salt water and a few surfboards can bring to some great folks limited by disabilities. Great to see everyone there. (G, you da man!)

Beautiful and inspiring!!! thank you all for sharing.. . I am so bummed on the airlines right now and couldnt get home to help... my soul needs a little recharging and THAT looks like the place to rekindle the STOKE FIRE!!!!!!!!
We are truly blessed.... thank you all who helped spread some of that stoke!!!! WOW..........
yep i'm all teared up on these photos... Just amazing and how much i take surfing for granted......
Surfrider CBC received this nice message from Rosie Garza, Leo Garza's sister. For any of you who do not know, we named this event in memorial to Leo Garza, a surfer from Kingsville.
I am Leo Garza's sister. We were honored that you named a surfing event for disabled kids after him. My family and I got a last minute notice and were not able to attend. I would love any pictures and information as to how the event went. Many of the donations to the surfer foundation were from my tennis clients and I would like them to see what transpired. Who knows, they might continue to donate to this wonderful foundation.
PS. Leo would be thrilled to know that through his love of surfing and working with disabled kids, that such an event was named after him. Our family is also appreciative of your thoughtfulness. Always, Rosie Garza
