I've been trying that for years. Gas money, beer money, close friends I have known for over 20 years and they have actually taken me with them to go fishing (I don't fish)..... but noooooooooo, I don't get the call when they are taking boards.

I do hope that if I ever get the call it will come with dead glass conditions like that.

Thanks for the shots Jeb!

Still freakin on the quality of that wave, its actually a real wave,in texas.Does it ever reach a point to where it'll pitch?

Wow! I've not payed much attention to the whole tanker-surfing thing until now. The pics I've seen looked mostly like longboard mushy but these pics...dang.

Shortboardable or fishable??

Great shots Jeb!
Dolphins are so smart that within a few weeks of captivity, they can train people to stand on the very edge of the pool and throw them fish.

Pics always make it better than it looks. I was amazed when I uploaded these. Also, again, the conditions were perfect. Even when you have all the resources you still need to have a LOT of luck. We were lucky. And in the end, it is just tanker surfing. No big lip bashes...no barrels...no airs...just cruising with the ocassional decent turn.

Probably shortboardable in spots but you will not make it thru the flat spots.....and the wave is one big flat spot. One of the boards we had was an 8'0" quad with a lot of volume. Board worked great and made it thru all the flat spots but could be improved upon for this kind of surfing. That is what kept me up last night....designing boards for this.

I KNOW WHERE THAT IS!!! DON'T GIVE IT AWAY, BAKER!!! I haven't revealed this due to the pending litigation that is now OVER and FINALIZED, THANK THE LORD, but I just bought a boat before Ike and lost it during the storm. I had taken it to THAT spot TWICE before I lost her.

I have the perfect boards for this, been working on perfecting the right one since I was 14 years old. BBA06 that used to post on here built the best one for me. Expoxy 9'6", 5" thick at its center, perfect rocker, square tail, single fin, nose rider with about 1.5" of lift in the tail rocker to get it through the flat spots. My Gore 10'6" and SPD 11'7" work well, too, as well as the Mathias Moby Fish, 10'6" twin. I don't give a flying SHIT what anyone thinks about Texas and tanker surfing, as long as the Coasties leave me alone, I'm a happy, happy boy with it!!!

Rock on JebS! It was indeed an EPIC day on G-Bay. I wish I would have gotten a pic of you and Hill taking off on that 19 min. wave - it was unreal - head high, peeling, perfect glass. I've never seen anything like it out there. COWABUNGA!!!

I can hardly wait to see the Photobucket with more of the pics. With 350+ to work through, I know you've got your work cut out for you though!

Holy crap, with the crap we put up with now in the surfing world, I can't even IMAGINE what kind of press we would get if the mags found out we were holding a contest in the channel!! We would be banned from national competition...or they would make a movie about us where one "State Champ" wins it all and moves to "Surf the big waves of the North Shore!".... wait, was that a movie or the life story of Bronson Hilliard?? I for one, notice a striking resemblance between our very own Hilldo and a certain...Rick Cain.

Brian, I think the best way to handle it will be for me just to make you a disk and mail it to ya or something....

And that wave you speak of.....I was paddling and thinking I was gonna get pounded...on a tanker wave!!! That thing stood straight up and I had to do a late take off and nearly took Steve out! Anyway, a great time!!!

I know that no one wants to give away these locations (please don't do it!!!). I am ready to go out any day I am not working. It helps to be self employed!!! I have seen some things (and ridden on them) that would blow you away out there. Looking for like minded individuals to go with me....waverunner holds 3-gassed up & ready to go...

i live in CC, but i've been wanting to do this for a very long time

i don't have a boat, so theres no risk of me "giving it away" or bring anyone later who could mess it up

not gonna happen tomorrow, but if i plan it right, it could happen eventually

PM me your contact info, tankersurfer

i'll get the gas and whatever else is necessary, and my aunt lives in the Heights

that wave looks fishable for sure, but i'd probably bring the LB just for the length of ride
